Otherworldly

She collects falling stars

Hoping to put them back in the night sky.

She is, like them,

Otherworldly;

trying to hold on to fading light,

only to watch it shatter against her skin -

reflecting and scattering in a million broken pieces,

bouncing off her fingertips in smaller and smaller shards

that won’t make sense to anyone, anywhere.
